Hey QCyclust fam,
You know how every bike ride is a new adventure? Well, life's been handing out its own brand of adventures lately, and I've been riding through some pretty unexpected turns.
If you haven’t read any of my previous blog posts, you might not know this; but for the last 6.5 months, my family has been navigating some difficult and challenging times. It’s like we have been like a bike on a bumpy off-road trail - a bit shaky, tires slightly deflated, but trying to use that as traction to keep moving forward. My husband, the tech guru, found himself in a bit of a career pit stop when he was laid off. Yep, the tech world can be as unpredictable as a sudden rain on a perfect riding day.
The job hunt? Think of it as one of those routes you think you know, but then it throws in a surprise hill climb. A couple of job opportunities showed up like mirages, only to disappear just as quickly (hiring freezes are the real deal, folks). It's been a roller coaster of hope and letdowns, but finally - and I mean finally - there's light at the end of the tunnel. He’s back in the tech saddle, starting his new job just yesterday!! 🌞
Breathing out that huge sigh of relief felt like finally reaching the top of a steep incline. We are eagerly awaiting that first paycheck in a couple weeks - it's like seeing the finish line after a grueling race.
If you don’t know by now, I like to try and be pretty real and candid with you all. So let’s talk about my reality check. We will soon be playing catch-up with our mortgage (currently about 6 months behind), which feels like trying to balance on two wheels, during a storm, with hands tied behind our back, blindfolded, and going uphill both ways! Lol ok that was a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea. But all in all, isn't that a big part of what life is about? Finding your balance, no matter the weather!
As I wave goodbye to double Thanksgiving, my focus is shifting gears. Black Friday and Cyber Week, you're tempting 👀, but I'm keeping my eyes on the road. Plans for our Christmas this year? Think 'homemade and heartfelt' rather than 'store-bought and shiny.' I have tried my best to keep the kids in the loop with our situation, and I'm banking on their understanding, even if the presents aren't what they're used to.
Now, let’s switch gears to something super exciting - my cycling design shop is almost ready to roll out! 🎨🚴🏼. It's been a journey of choices - whether to go super budget-friendly or quality-centric. In the end, quality won. Why? Because we all deserve gear that feels as good as it looks. And well, also, ngl…I love soft things!
I've got some cool designs lined up (which if you are following me on social media, you would have seen some sneak peaks! wink wink). Some of them with a festive twist, others perfect for any day of the year. Ultimately, it’s not just a shop; it’s a piece of my heart and passion, and I can't wait to share it with you all! For me, launching my shop isn’t just about business; it’s a pedal stroke towards supporting my family. Every purchase you make is like a cheer from the sidelines, and believe me, we hear and appreciate every one of them!
So, stay tuned for the grand opening - it's happening this week (I HOPE)!! Your support means the world to me, and I can’t wait to share these designs with you.
So, as we ride into the end of the year, let’s remember: every path has its puddles and its smooth stretches. Thanks for being part of my journey, for every word of encouragement, donation, and for simply being here. You’re not just fellow cyclists; you’re my friends and truly make a difference in my world.
Stay tuned for the shop launch - it’s coming faster than a downhill sprint!
Keep riding, keep smiling, and remember - every journey is worth the ride.
So much love,
Queen Caution
